Blackberry BIS settings on the Cell C network needs to be purchased every 30 days from the first BIS activation- You will receive a sms 2 days prior to the expiry of the 30 day period to remind you to reload. This service can be set up as an automatic renewal on your BlackBerry 8520 Curve. Please ensure you have sufficient airtime balance available as the BIS settings will not load if there are insufficient funds at the time of loading.

Blackberry Set-up using Purse Value

  1. Dial *147# from your Cell C Blackberry
  2. Cell C Customer Menu will appear, select option 7 for Blackberry
  3. This will prompt you to select the service required, select option 1 for BIS service at R57.00
  4. You will be asked to select 1 to confirm the transaction
  5. It will indicate the service will be active for a 30 day period and indicate the date of expiry.
  6. There will be an automated message generated 72 hours prior to expiry which will then prompt you to resubscribe.

E-mail Set-up after Activation

  1. You will receive an SMS confirming your subscription has been successful.
  2. Go into the menu by pressing the Blackberry key
  3. Scroll to Setup (folder with green cog)
  4. Select the folder and scroll to E-mail Settings
  5. This will then bring up a menu screen to create or add email accounts
  6. If you have an existing account i.e. Gmail, Yahoo, Live or other such as Telkom, Mweb etc you will be allowed to choose the option now
  7. Type in your email address and password. Blackberry will then try to auto configure the settings and if successful will say that that your account has been added successfully.
  8. In the event of your set-up being unsuccessful you will be prompted to manually enter the Pop and SMTP settings (ISP dependant).
