- Drinks on the go.
Invest in a good-quality water bottle that will keep your hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold so that you can take your refreshments with you wherever you go. The bottle might seem expensive, but if you stop buying takeaway coffee and bottles of water, it will very quickly pay for itself. And you will cut down on litter as well. - Use your talents.
Cut your family’s hair, do your own nails and face treatments at home and, if you can sew, do your own alterations instead of paying someone to shorten trousers or take in a dress. - Take care of your stuff.
It’s always cheaper to keep equipment, tools, clothes and shoes for as long as possible than it is to replace them. - Find the freebies.
Make use of free resources in your neighbourhood, such as books and wifi at the local library, or volunteer at a community food garden in exchange for some of the produce. Take walks in public parks and even do your gym workout on the equipment available in some of them. - Energy savings.
A geyser blanket will help your geyser be more efficient. Switch off lights when you leave a room. Boil the kettle once and store the left-over hot water in your insulated water bottle (see point 1) so you don’t have to keep boiling the kettle for tea.
